Energy transition: Getting our grids fighting fit for an electrified future

There is presently 1,500GW of distributed energy resources stuck in the interconnection queue in the US and Europe – equivalent to nearly 500,000 3MW wind turbines. Electrical grids around the world need to expand to meet our net-zero future. The scale of this transition is like nothing seen before for our built electrical environment. The solution, according to our Siemens Smart Infrastructure’s CEO Matthias Rebellius, lies in digitalization. Through digitally mapping, measuring, and conserving energy throughout the grid, we can find the capacity needed and get our grids fighting fit for our electrified future.

A milestone for future healthcare

The Ankara City Hospital in Türkiye is one of the largest hospital campuses in the world - and one of the most modern, too: it offers patients, staff, and visitors the utmost in wellbeing, efficiency, resiliency and safety. The key point: One single management platform monitors and controls 22 hospital subsystems and 800,000 data points enabling critical infrastructure to run smoothly.
