BREEAM stands for “Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method” and is a measuring instrument for the assessment of the sustainability of buildings. BREEAM is used in more than 75 countries and its categories evaluate energy and water use, health and wellbeing, pollution, transport, materials, waste, ecology and management processes. Buildings are rated and certified on a scale of 'Pass', 'Good', 'Very Good', 'Excellent' and 'Outstanding'.
Among the evaluated BREEAM categories is the meetering and monitoring of energy use, as declared in ENE norm 2a and 2b, for all domestic, public, commercial and industrial buildings. This addresses the application of sub-meetering of area zones of the building and of substantial consumption groups so energy use can be registered, monitored and, if necessary, adjusted. xxter now provides an easy solution to support this functionality both for registration and monitoring. All that is required are KNX-components to provide meetering data on the KNX-bus, an xxter device and a xxter-BREEAM license.
DATA COLLECTION
In the my xxter environment, all available meetering data can be configured in zones and can be classified with the appropriate categories and types. The xxter device will collect all data and store it in 15 minute intervals. The device will automatically upload this data to the cloud, where it is securely stored for a maximum period of 2 years. In case either the data collection or the cloud upload is disrupted, an alert can be sent to an administrator to rectify the situation. The device will keep a local copy of the data until the upload is successful, to prevent dataloss.?
REPORTING AND VISUALIZATION
With xxter, the collected data can be made available in many different ways. The information can be shown online in graphs and tables, can be sent by email as a pdf-file report and, of course, are always available to download in csv format, to import and process in a spreadsheet or other system.
Different types of graphs can be chosen, including one or more zones, categories or types, over different time periods and compared to previous periods.
When displaying in tables, one or more zones, categories or types can be chosen, over different time periods.
The graphs and tables can be made available using a special external link, so they can be accessed without having to log in. These can, for instance, be used to display on narrowcasting monitors, embedded in corporate websites, or used into other (web)applications.
You can also select which graphs and tables are to be combined into a pdf-file report. The report can be sent automatically by email, for instance every week or month.
All configuration is done through the secure my xxter environment and provides easy to use flexibility to create the exact meetering and monitoring that is required for your situation. This allows you to get this part of your BREEAM certification in a quick and affordable way.
